MAGGZ "RENISANCE MAN"

Maggz love for music goes back to when he was a child, the son of a Jazz trumpet player, and big band leader (The Melvin Rogers Big Band), Maggz would go with his father to all of his concerts and help him set up the stage equipment, mostly every weekend. This lifestyle intrigued him right off the bat, he knew that he would one day be a musician of some sort. He learned how to play the full drum set when he was 7 years old. As the Years progressed, Maggz was cultivated into hip hop, listening to the local radio in Rochester, tape recording the songs that he liked to play them again. About '97, he met the Black Methods in middle school, who were working on a demo tape at the time. he was soon rhyming on the school buses, and in the staircases of his apartment building after school with Rezon of B.M. who lived in the same complex with his twin brother Paragon. He met Tee S in high school, who knew Rezon from vocational school, They took a broadcasting class together with B Reddy, this is where the Faction was formed. Maggz and Tee-S formed the Rhyme duo "Fifth Blessn". After recording several Faction demo songs, Maggz soon moved out to Memphis, TN and officially made the decision to quit going to high school, around late 2001. This is where he began to seriously focus on his solo career. He was battling local Memphis artists, easily defeating his opponents with his smart and witty, provocative and mercilous rhymes, and east coast swag. He also worked with artist "Kyree da God" and "producer "L.C." both from Chicago during his stay in Memphis. 1000 miles away from home, he still managed to return to Rochester regularly to record songs with the group. Finally in 2005 Maggz ended up in Columbus, OH, where he was desperate for beats, not able to return to Rochester at the time, he was given a copy of FL (fruity loops at the time), where he learned how to translate his drumming skills into a sequenced format. Also expeimenting with a BOSS SP-202, and the MPC 2000xl. He worked on this day and night. He soon later began to use samples strictly from vinyl records."I try to create my own authentic sound, some might call it obscure or abstract, but that's O.K. with me. I use a mixture of bright soulful, funk samples, and jazz, rock sounds and samples topped off with a steady rhythm of hard hitting kicks, and sharp snares. I'm a versatile and diverse MC who can go from one extreme to another in a matter of a couple bars." Says the 25 year old MC/Producer. The Faction Is currently in the studio working on a double disc album, almost entirely produced by Maggz. He is also currently working on a solo album, he will be producing many songs on the album himself, also production features by Optix, K 81, 51 Physicist. ,and also in the works is "Maggnetic Opposites" entirely produced by Optix, No set release date on either of the two projects. Maggz just finished the remixed version of Blaq Poet's"The Blaqprint". This project will be released early 2010. Maggz is also working on a LP with the "Intricate Sunz" of Columbus and Connecticut. Together they are the "Trilateral" the untitled album is scheduled to be released in 2010. There are many projects on the way from this talented artist, stay tuned...
